Wood County Parks

is the place for summer time fun!

Here are five fun things you can do in your Wood County Parks this summer:
                         1.  Visit the Slippery Elm Trail and go for a bike ride.

                         2.  Take your parents fishing at W.W. Knight Preserve or SET: Cricket Frog Cove Area.

                         3.  Get your feet wet at William Henry Harrison Park looking for critters in the Portage River.

                         4.  Visit the Otsego Canoe Livery and take a canoe ride down the Maumee River.

                         5.  Go to one of the many programs offered by your Wood County Park District.

DID YOU KNOW?

2008 is the Year of the Frog
. . .that a frog swallows with its eyeballs?  Frogs can sink their eyes down into their head.  When they do this their eyes push on the roof of their mouth, which is soft ~ not hard like ours, and their eyes push their food down their throat!!!

. . . frogs and toads shed their skin, just like snakes.  But you will never find their cast off skin because they EAT IT!!
